RECENT RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS

A refurbished two-bed buy-to-let flat

We refurnished and redecorated the whole place, transforming the interiors and fitting a new kitchen, all on a very tight budget of £10,000. The new kitchen (including the tradesmen's fees) cost just £2500. Six weeks later, the flat was let for a satisfying 15% increase in rental income.

An extension for a cottage in Ireland

Working with business associate, and furniture designer, Paul Bradburn, we came up with a radical design to extend a tiny fisherman's cottage dating back to 1820. The client needed more space and wanted a modern interior and we had to make the most of the spectacular views.

A new ensuite and a refurbished family bathroom

This listed, three-storey house needed a dressing room and en suite for the master bedroom on the top floor. We also replaced the dated family bathroom on the floor below. In both rooms we hid all the pipe work, moving walls and ceilings; put in a fabulous shower and used coloured glass everywhere for a sleek, luxurious look. The cabinetry was also hand-made to our designs.

A two-storey extension for a four bed house

A desperate couple with two young children called us in to investigate a seven-month late, extension. They had been conned by a real 'cowboy'. After our visit, the builder was sacked and we brought in a surveyor to assess the problems. We employed a new team of builders to put everything right and after five weeks of well co-ordinated activity, they are back on track. We needed to replace the roof, re-plumb the heating system, rewire the extension, replace the new windows, refit the kitchen and re-plaster and everywhere.

Some simple advice on kitchen flooring and tiling, blossomed into a complete refurbishment!

A 19th century barn renovated to be a 5-bed luxury home

We had a £30,000 budget to source all the furniture and artworks; we designed the striking bathroom mirror and oversaw the delivery, positioning and final dressing of all the elements on site.

Bathroom in Victorian terrace

It cost £7000 to refit this bathroom. We redesigned the toilet area to hide pipes and incorporate cupboards and shelving in a modesty screen. Tongue and groove panelling avoided re-plastering and we added waterproof speakers for our musician client.

Small, awkward shaped end terrace rear garden

The owners had a tiny budget and wanted much more than a low-maintenance garden, they wanted a no-maintenance garden to serve as a big boys’ playroom. For an all-inclusive £5500 fee we did the lot.

Living room in a converted 17th century inn

Using fabric from a high street store as a starting point, we created a warm Scandinavian feel, including a light carpet that could withstand muddy shoes and spillages. We replaced rotten French doors for access to the sunny walled patio and designed a built-in bookcase to provide much needed storage. The old swing pub door was replaced with a cottage style painted plank door made by the carpenter. It cost just £4700.

Kitchen in Edwardian maisonette

The door to this compact kitchen was off the living room, so to keep out cooking smells and noise, but retain the light, we put in a sliding glass door. The units were from IKEA but we added bespoke glass splash backs, granite laminate over the existing worktops and a clever lighting solution to avoid skimming the ceiling. It cost £8500.

Bedroom in Edwardian semi

Two small rooms were knocked into one, to create a master bedroom, with built-in dressing area, at the quieter rear of the property. Loft access was added to the front room, for storage, and the tiny hall was brightened by the addition of mirrored shelves in the old doorway. We chose to wallpaper one wall with a bold Cole & Son print and painted the floorboards to save on carpeting. It cost less than £4000.

Front garden & bay window of a 19th Century terraced house

This house desperately needed kerb appeal and it only cost £3000 to do so. We added low-level blue LED lighting to illuminate the new path, commissioned some new frosted glass for the door, found a low maintenance solution to planting and at the same time hid the unsightly meters.

COMMERCIAL PROJECTS

Office

The owner’s part-time design business had suddenly taken off and she needed more space, storage and a suitable room for client meetings. Using laminated ply and MDF we ensured the resulting stylish solutions were achieved on the £3000 budget. We sourced and project managed the transformation.
